The law has been a guiding force in Calabro's life since he entered the workforce as an Essex County patrolman in 1980. He worked his way up the ranks to become an Essex County Detective, Assistant Prosecutor, Trial Team Supervisor in Adult Criminal Court, and finally, the Director of Narcotics Enforcement Operation-Special Investigation Unit. Since 2006, Calabro has served as the East Hanover Prosecutor, further solidifying his commitment and passion for the law.

Backing Michael Calabro's distinguished career, he is a Miami-Dade College graduate with an Associate Degree in Criminology, a Rutgers alumnus with a Bachelor's Degree in urban studies, and a Seton Hall University School of Law graduate. His certifications include: Police Instructor – Police Training Commission and Criminal Justice Act Panel Attorney. He is affiliated with the New Jersey State Bar Association, Essex County Bar Association, and Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

In his leisure time, Calabro finds joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending quality time with his two sons, his wife, and his granddaughter. Calabro has always been engaged with his community. For years, he was an East Hanover Little League Coach and played on the East Hanover Men's Softball team. Now, he dedicates his time as the Chairman of the Board for the Columbian Foundation, a testament to his community involvement.
